Squirrels

Squirrels can cause significant damage to a property and are the 2nd leading cause of house fires in NC. By chewing through attic insulation, electrical wiring, vents, and soffits, they create nests and gain access points. Their persistent gnawing can lead to short circuits and fire hazards while loosening roof shingles and degrading structural wood. Their urine and droppings contaminate insulation and attic spaces, creating unpleasant odors and potential health risks from parasites and bacteria. Squirrel activity also attracts other pests and predators, increasing noise and disturbance in walls and ceilings that can keep homeowners awake and raise repair costs substantially if infestations go unchecked.

Our Approach

In order to protect your property from squirrels, we will seal entry points by repairing holes in roofs, soffits, vents, and siding. We recommend trimming tree branches at least 6–8 feet away from the house to prevent easy access to the roof. We will secure attic and chimney openings with durable mesh or chimney caps, remove food attractants such as unsecured trash, birdseed left on the ground, and accessible pet food. We recommend installing squirrel-resistant bird feeders or place feeders away from trees and structures, and keeping gutters clean to avoid nesting materials. We will inspect and ensure vents have one-way exclusion devices where needed, and we can inspect regularly for chewing or new damage so you can address problems early. If squirrels are already inside, contact a licensed wildlife removal professional to handle safe trapping, exclusion, and repairs.
