Possums
Possums can cause a lot of property damage when they take up residence in attics, crawl spaces, garages, sheds, or under porches; they tear insulation and wiring while creating nests from shredded materials, leave strong-smelling droppings that contaminate insulation and surfaces, and can gnaw on vents and siding to gain entry. Their scavenging behavior can lead to overturned trash cans, chewed food packaging, and damage to garden plants or compost piles, while burrowing under structures undermines foundations, walkways, and landscaping. Although not typically aggressive, opossums may create persistent noise at night and attract other wildlife or pests, such as fleas and ticks, increasing the risk of secondary infestations and health hazards for people and pets.
Our Approach
At Rose Wildlife Solutions, we assess the property to locate den sites, entry points, and attractants, then humanely remove opossums using live trapping methods and relocate them according to North Carolina regulations; after removal we repair and seal openings, install exclusion devices where needed, and eliminate food and shelter sources—such as unsecured garbage, pet food, and brush piles—to prevent re-entry, and we provide follow-up visits and recommendations for long-term monitoring and maintenance to keep opossums from returning.
